Decompressing Lunch Hour

Sonya Edwards, Peace Garden, Capitol Park, Sacramento

There is a growing realization that it is important for our health to take a break, step away from the computer and get the body moving. Now that spring has arrived, the roses in Capitol Park are in full bloom. All that cow manure they loaded on last winter paid off. The roses are outstanding this year. It hasn’t gotten so hot that one wilts when we go outside

The Capitol Park serves as a showcase for trees from all over the world. Many of the trees were gifts from other countries.

There are many places within the park where one can take a brown bag lunch, a sketchbook and a small watercolor paint set and decompress. The Peace Garden, an award winning rose garden is a highlight.

Here are a couple of quick sketches done with the archway as a focal point. It was a great way to unwind from the tension of the office.
